Wert´s Law

José Ignacio Wert: «No tenía sentido que hubiera una Historia de España no compartida, es por eso por lo que se ha diseñado la LOMCE (Ley Orgánica para la Mejora de la Calidad Educativa), y confío en que cumpla su propósito.»

Now, I am going to explain for those who do not know exactly what this law supposes for the edicational world.
 • Subjects

The subjects of elementary school, ESO and bachiller will we distributed in: core, specifics and of free configuration of the autonomy; but Government is going to be the one who chooses the contents and the timetables (like, Spanish Language, Mathematics, Sciences or Foreign Language).

The communities can choose the curriculum of the specifics and how the marks will be (like Physic Education or Music); nevertheless, the co-oficial language and the free configuration ones would be threated as the Spanish Language

Spanish

The Spanish is the working language of all Spain, and the other co-oficial ones are the same for the places they are spoken.

The Government will give money to private schools for the families which want their children to be taugh in Spanish, and then that money will be disscounted from Cataluña; all this in order to ensure that people can choose between Spanish and Catalá.

Evaluations

University entrance exams will dissappear and there are going to be national evaluations for specific competences (designed by the Government) equal for every single student when they finish the ESO and bachiller in order to take the title.

• Religión

Learning religión is going to be only an option but it will count for the average, but without an exam. An the polemic subject “Educación para la Ciudadanía” will dissapear.

• Other aspects

– When the students have finished the last year of bachiller they will have two options: start with the bachiller or an FP.

– It will impossible to pass the course with more tan two fails, only if those fails are Spanish or co-oficial language and Mathematics.

– The standar FP is for students from 15 years old and who have problems with the studies, if they achieve the FP they will get the certificate of the ESO too.

– The schools have to promote the sports and healthy life.

• Criticism

This law has also a wide range of critiscm which I am going to explain briefly:

– The director of the educational centre will be choosen by the Government; a lot of people stand out that this mesure reveals an unfair behaviour and a manipulation.

– Segregation in the rooms, the students with problems will receive a different education, a worst one and consequently they would not be capable of get the same options and Jobs than the other.

– The autonomic languages are now considered as “specific” and it signifies a non equality of opportunities for both languages.

With all this the only alternative is wait and watch who was right.
